Time Does Not Heal

A little white lie, an eye roll, an ungrateful heart. In our minds, small sins. We ask for repentance. We receive forgiveness from God. But what about our "big" sins? The words we can't take back, the hearts we've broken, the innocence lost. We should walk through the same process. We ask for repentance. We receive forgiveness. Yet, we fall into this vicious cycle of self guilt and abuse. We see someone or something and are reminded of our short-comings, so we run to our war room and beg for forgiveness. But what we all fall short of, is realizing that God doesn't bring up our past sins. We see the battle scars, even though He has washed us white as snow.

We also fail to give it to God. Earlier this week, I watched Sadie Robertson give a heart-filled message over the truth behind time and the effects it had with her sin. (See link below) She said, "Time does not heal, but God does." By continuing to hold on to our sins, we are refusing to give that part of our life over to him. It's as if we are telling him, "God, I know I can't do this on my own, but I am just not ready to give it to you." So we continue to carry the sin around in our mind to punish ourselves. But what if we dropped to our knees, cried out, and just gave it all over to Him? Christ died on a cross for every one and every sin. By carrying this burden after asking for forgiveness, we go against all that He died for. So my challenge for you and myself, is give it to God. He heals faster than time. - 6/28/17
